Application — Pressure Boosting

Booster Pump VFD: Constant-Pressure Supply

A booster set has one job: the same pressure at the tap at 3 a.m. and at peak demand. The Ausenist pump documentation addresses it directly — master/auxiliary pump control over RS485, PID constant-pressure regulation, and the protections a dry or frozen line needs.

The documented control scheme

The AU620-series documentation describes the classic booster architecture: one master drive unit with up to four auxiliary units linked by RS485. The master reads the pressure sensor and runs its PID loop; as demand rises it calls auxiliary pumps in, and as demand falls it rests them — with the documented functions that keep the set healthy: pipe-network constant-pressure PID control, dry-running (water-shortage) protection, high-pressure and burst-pipe protection, anti-freeze automatic operation, anti-rust protection, and a set-pressure function that adapts to the actual head.

The same set documentation publishes the supervision side: users can set the pump operation data and view operation status and fault information on the drive. The water-shortage behaviour is automatic in the documentation's own description — when pressure falls below the water-shortage set value, the system stops, then restarts automatically after a set period for a specified number of times while the shortage persists. Double main pumps online is the documented arrangement for larger sets, and the YS620 table publishes two-master plus four-auxiliary support.

Setting up a quotation

Send the number of pumps in the set, each pump's motor rating, the target pressure and the sensor you have (or whether the drive should supply the setpoint from a gauge signal). The YS620 line adds published OEM options — display, language, logo — for set builders; see the OEM page. For the borehole pump lines, see the submersible pump VFD page.

Design points the documentation settles

The documented AU620 scheme settles the set's architecture: one master with up to four auxiliary units on RS485, PID constant-pressure regulation from a 0–10 V gauge or 4–20 mA transmitter signal, and the protection set (dry-run, high-pressure, burst-pipe, anti-freeze). State the sensor type, pump count and target pressure with the enquiry. The set's mechanical design — vessel sizing and pipework — stays with the set builder, and for configuration questions beyond the documented scheme, ask with your enquiry.

Frequently asked questions

How many pumps can one system control?

One master drive with up to four auxiliary drives, networked over RS485, per the AU620-series documentation; the YS620 publishes two-master plus four-auxiliary support in its own table.

What happens when demand drops to zero at night?

The set documentation describes automatic operation: main and auxiliary pumps switch and alternate automatically, and the anti-freeze function protects idle lines in cold conditions.

Can the drive use my existing pressure transmitter?

The documented AU620 inputs cover 0–10 V (pressure gauge) and 4–20 mA (remote transmitter). State your sensor's signal in the enquiry.

Send us your motor rating and application

Tell us the motor power, the supply voltage on site and what the drive will run — pump, fan, machine tool or lift. Minimum order is 1 piece on the main catalogue lines, as published on the platform store; ask for price and lead time for your model and quantity to be stated in the quotation.
