Modbus VFD: RS485 and Fieldbus-Ready Drives

A drive that cannot talk is a drive the line controller cannot use. The Ausenist documentation publishes its communication interfaces per series — which series carry RS485 Modbus as standard, which offer it as an option, and which add further fieldbus families.

Integration notes

Planning an RS485 installation

The series documentation publishes the interfaces themselves — RS485 with Modbus RTU on the series listed above. Installation design for a specific network is an enquiry item: tell us the master device (PLC, HMI or PC-based controller) and the number of drives when you enquire, and ask for the configuration notes and the model's register documentation to be covered in the quotation.

RS485 Modbus across the series

RS485 Modbus RTU is documented on the AU720, the AU321 and the EV510 alike. For a mixed fleet, ask for each model's communication documentation with its order. The pump lines publish their own RS485 arrangement in the same documentation set: the AU620's material describes a master drive controlling up to four auxiliary drives by communication, sending PID feedback information to the auxiliaries and monitoring their status in real time.

Frequently asked questions

Which is the cheapest Modbus-ready drive?

The AU321 carries RS485 Modbus RTU as a built-in, documented feature in the simple-drive class; the AU320 baseline does not publish the interface. Small-drive details are on the AU320 page.

Can the drives join a CANopen network?

CANopen is documented for the AU1000 elevator inverter and the EV510. Ask for the exact model's bus options to be stated in the quotation.

Send us your motor rating and application

Tell us the motor power, the supply voltage on site and what the drive will run — pump, fan, machine tool or lift. Minimum order is 1 piece on the main catalogue lines, as published on the platform store; ask for price and lead time for your model and quantity to be stated in the quotation.
