Product Series — AU720

AU720 High-Performance Inverter

The AU720 is the catalogue's general-purpose current-vector-control series: its documentation publishes sensorless and closed-loop figures, dual frequency modes and a 0.75–500 kW envelope.

Where the AU720 sits

The AU720 sits above the simple AU320 (open-loop only, to 11 kW) and alongside the EV510 in the published range. The documented AU720 combination is: high starting torque without an encoder (150% at 0.25 Hz in SVC), a closed-loop mode on the same series (FVC), and a high-frequency mode publishing output to 3,200 Hz. Its documented scope is its published figures; the company's platform profile separately names industry solutions for lifting, water pumps, elevators and HVAC. Compare the modes on the high-performance and closed-loop pages.

Built-in functions in depth

Beyond the headline control modes, the AU720 documentation lists a working set of built-in functions worth knowing at specification time: multi-preset-speed operation to 16 speeds through its simple PLC function or digital inputs, DC-injection braking, jog running, automatic voltage regulation, over-voltage and over-current stall control, torque limit and control in vector mode, and an undervoltage-restraint function for low or unsteady grids. Its protection list runs to overcurrent, overvoltage, undervoltage, module fault, electric thermal relay, overheating, short circuit, input and output phase loss, motor parameter abnormalities and internal memory faults.

AU720 or EV510?

The two performance series overlap in their published envelopes. The AU720 publishes the wider envelope — to 500 kW and 3,200 Hz in high-frequency mode — and the fuller built-in function set; the EV510 publishes finer model granularity at small powers (from 0.4 kW), more voltage classes (to 1140 V) and a documented PG-card family (differential input, resolver and OC input cards). Send one enquiry covering the duty, state the application data with it, and ask for the applicable series to be stated in the quotation.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between the AU720's two frequency modes?

The documentation publishes two output modes: a low-frequency mode of 0–500 Hz and a high-frequency mode of 0–3,200 Hz. The mode is a configuration choice — state the application in your enquiry and ask for the mode to be addressed in the quotation.

Can the AU720 run a pump set?

The AU720's documented function set is the general control set listed on this page; multi-pump master/auxiliary control is the documented speciality of the pump lines — see the pump VFD page.

Is the braking unit included?

The AU720 documentation states a braking unit is built in at 18.5 kW and below. Above that, ask for the braking configuration for the model to be stated in the quotation.
